Three Cups of Tea

I really enjoyed Three Cups of Tea. From the beginning of the book, it was obvious that Greg Mortenson was an extremely determined person. Although he didn't always accomplish everything he attempted, like his failed attempt at k2, he clearly put immense effort into everything.

Greg seemed to have a lot of luck. He just stumble into things, like the small village that changed his life. He was often in the right place at the right time, and had the strength and knowledge to make the right decisions. Greg's likeability also proved to be helpful to him. Not many Americans had the ability to be welcomed in Pakistan at the time he was. With the help of Jean Hoerni, Greg greatly improved the lives of many children, and possibly a whole country for generations.

I can't believe how incredibly brave Greg was throughout the whole book. I can't even imagine accomplishing half of the things he did. I was completely shocked whenever he went to Baltistan to help the people right when all of the fighting was going on. He was incredibly dedicated to taking care of the people of Pakistan. Greg was around so much danger throughout the whole journey, from climbing mountains, to being held hostage.

In the second to last chapter, I honestly almost cried when I read about Haji Ali's granddaughter's plans and how it made Mortenson feel. It really proved that his schools made a difference in the children's lives. Greg put himself in a lot of danger to find Sadhar Khan, but he did it to benefit the children of the country. It was kind of surprising that he was willing to sacrifice even more time with his family, but he was doing it for a good cause. After all he had gone through, Mortenson still helped anyone that asked him. His story was truly inspirational.
